Overview

The programme

The Bachelor Design d’Espace is a programme built around the environment, architecture and the built world. The first year is devoted to broadening artistic ability in order to develop the specific range of skills and techniques used in spatial and product design. The following two years focus on technical mastery, architectural knowledge and the practical and professional skills of the spatial designer.

Working across a wide variety of fields, creativity, an enquiring mind, artistic sensitivity and a solid general culture are essential in this sector. Spatial designers must be able to create, conceive and develop projects, and to argue their case, in order to bring a client's expectations to life, before going on to become an interior architect at master's level (BAC+5).

Why choose this Bachelor?


Year 1
 hold a BAC (French upper-secondary school diploma) or an equivalent level 4 qualification.
Year 2
 hold a BAC or an equivalent level 4 qualification and have validated 60 ECTS credits on completion of a first year of higher education in a field directly or indirectly related to the spatial design or architecture industry, or to art and design studies.
Year 3
 hold a BAC+2 qualification (two years of higher education) or an equivalent level 5 qualification in a field directly or indirectly related to the spatial design or architecture industry, or to art and design studies, or have validated 120 ECTS credits on completion of two years of higher education in a field directly or indirectly related to the spatial design or architecture industry, or to art and design studies.

Exemptions may be granted at the discretion of the admissions board. 

Applicants holding a foreign qualification will be asked to provide official ENIC-NARIC recognition of equivalence.

Learning objectives

 ➜ Train spatial design professionals able to identify a need and address it for a range of clients working with interior environments

➜ Acquire the technical and conceptual skills needed to deliver projects in interior design, temporary and event spaces, and natural or built environmental spaces

➜ Acquire the visual, functional, technical, cultural and semantic knowledge that underpins and enriches the practice of interior architecture

➜ Explore methodically how a space is constructed, following the graduated stages specific to the interior architect's profession

➜ Develop analytical skills, creativity and a general and artistic culture

➜ Prepare students for professional life through workshops, professional studios and work placements


Study formats
 Full-time study. Compulsory work placements in Year 2 and Year 3.
Assessment methods
 Students are assessed throughout the academic year through continuous assessment (written assignments, case studies, projects, oral presentations, etc.) and examination sessions.

In the third year of the Bachelor, the school diploma is awarded on validation of the 180 ECTS credits gained across the programme.



Diploma
 Each academic year is worth 60 ECTS credits.

The third year of the Bachelor leads to the ENAAI school diploma “Bachelor Design d’Espace” (Bachelor in Spatial Design) (180 ECTS credits), awarded by ACE EDUCATION.

➜ General & artistic culture, with courses in artistic culture, scientific culture, methodology and English

➜ Drawing and representation, with courses in life drawing, object drawing and outdoor drawing

➜ Applied techniques, with courses such as computer graphics, creativity and colour fundamentals, plus workshops (a week of creativity and learning to work as a team)

➜ Design project, with inspiring courses covering the different worlds of Spatial & Product Design


➜ Culture générale & artistique avec des cours de sémiologie et espace, culture scientifique, méthodologie créative, soft skills, anglais, anthropologie…

➜ Dessin et représentation avec des cours de dessin d’illustration, dessin technique, maquettage, plan et modélisation

➜ Projet design avec le cours de studio de création dédié aux projets de Design d’Espace et de Scénographie

After the Bachelor

On completion of the diploma, the Bachelor allows students to move straight into working life or to continue into the first year of the Mastère Design Architecture d’Intérieur (Master's in Interior Architecture Design) at ESDAC, a school of the ACE Education group.
